He then spent 14 months with the Wireless Communications Research Group, at Loughborough University, working largely on 2D leaky-wave antennas. Following this he accepted a position as a Research Fellow in the Antennas and Applied Electromagnetics Laboratory at The University of Birmingham. Whilst at Birmingham he worked on reconfigurable antennas for Cognitive Radio.

From 1999 to 2000 he worked for, the International Rail Vehicle Consultancy, Interfleet Technology and in 2000 he was employed within the Roles-Royce Strategic Research Centre.
